Expanded Facility in Memphis to Enhance Customer
Experience
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that it is
expanding its logistics operations to serve markets in the U.S.,
Mexico, Canada, and Central America.
The Agilent Regional Logistics Center for the Americas (RLC-A)
based in Memphis, Tenn., will function as the company’s primary
American distribution center. A critical connection within its
global supply chain, Agilent will handle the distribution functions
of the company in-house and has added approximately 110 employees
to its local team.
Managing logistics services, such as warehousing, inventory
management, order fulfillment, and distribution functions in-house
will enable Agilent to further improve its level of customer
service while ensuring business continuity through a more robust
and flexible supply-chain network.
“Through this insourcing initiative we will have greater control
over the quality of, and processes conducted, within the facility,”
said Henrik Ancher-Jensen, senior vice president, Agilent, and
president, Order Fulfillment and Supply Chain. “Through
optimization of our fulfillment processes, we aim to exceed our
customers’ expectations, and improve the overall Agilent customer
experience.”
In the wake of recent natural disasters and severe weather
events throughout the Americas, Agilent has been proactive in
taking steps to ensure continuous service to its customers, with
regional warehouses around the world adding capabilities and scale
to create a more flexible and robust distribution network.
“The insourced warehouse will see new mobile warehouse
monitoring solutions that will enhance speed, quality, and
productivity,” said Chow Woai Sheng, vice president and general
manager, Global Supply Chain. “At the same time, capacity will be
doubled to provide ample opportunity for Agilent’s growing product
portfolio and to better serve our customers throughout North and
Central America.”
