DENVER, Aug. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With the
generous help of its business partners across the country,
Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) set a new
fundraising record, yielding $530,300
for beneficiaries of the 14th annual Aimco Cares Charity
Golf Classic held August 10 at
Sanctuary Golf Course in Sedalia,
CO. This year's result brings the tournament's total gross
proceeds to more than $4.5 million
since the event's inception.
Presented in partnership with RE/MAX, the tournament benefits
the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) which supports
family members who have experienced the loss of a loved one in the
line of duty; Project Sanctuary, a nonprofit that works with
military personnel returning from deployments and their families to
assist with the transition to civilian life; and college-bound
students living in affordable housing across the country who
receive financial assistance through the Aimco Cares Opportunity
Scholarship in partnership with the National Leased Housing
Association. A portion of this year's tournament proceeds
also will go to Aimco's Give with Gusto Program that provides a
financial match to hours volunteered by the company's team members
across the country who then select a local nonprofit to receive
donations.
"TAPS is grateful for Aimco's longstanding support for military
families and for its many years of partnership with our
organization," said Bonnie Carroll,
TAPS President and Founder. "The contributions we have received
over the years, raised by the Aimco Cares Golf Classic, have
enabled us to provide critical grief support services to more than
70,000 surviving family members of our fallen military heroes. The
steadfast support demonstrated by Aimco makes a real difference for
those whose lives include service and sacrifice for our
nation."
"Aimco, along with its generous tournament sponsors, continues
to demonstrate support for our service members and their families,"
said Project Sanctuary Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Heather Ehle. "Proceeds have ensured
that more military families than ever receive access to Project
Sanctuary's programming, providing them with healing, hope and
empowerment."
"We very much appreciate the strong support of Aimco Cares which
has enabled the NLHA Education Fund and the Aimco Cares Opportunity
Scholarship to reward deserving low income students with tuition
assistance as they forge a path to self-sufficiency," added
Denise Muha, NLHA Executive
Director.
"We set a new fundraising record by exceeding a half million
dollars in gross receipts thanks to our sold-out participation and
unparalleled contributions from our business partners from around
the country," said Aimco Chief Administrative Officer Miles Cortez. "Most importantly, the success of
the tournament means record support for the critical services for
our military families, college-bound students who live in
affordable housing, and hundreds of nonprofits across the country
who will benefit from Aimco Cares Gusto Grants."
The tournament's Diamond Sponsor, contributing more than
$30,000, was RentPath. Platinum
Sponsors, contributing $20,000 or
more, were Apartments.com, the law firm of Harris Winick Harris, Institutional Property
Advisors, and Karndean Design Flooring. The Gold Sponsors,
