BT Group PLC (BT.A.LN) said Wednesday that it is creating a new
BT Enterprise unit which combines its current business-and-public
sector and wholesale-and-venture businesses.
The British telecoms company said Gerry McQuade, its current
chief executive of wholesale-and-ventures, will lead the new unit
from May 1, and it will begin to report as a single entity from
October 1.
BT Enterprise will provide products and services to small- and
medium-sized businesses, the corporate and public sectors, and
other communications providers in the U.K. and the Republic of
Ireland, said the company. It will also include the growth
incubator functions of the ventures business, said BT.
Current business-and-public sector CEO Graham Sutherland is
leaving BT after five years on its executive committee and 12 years
with the company overall, BT said.
"Having brought together our consumer and EE businesses, this is
the next step in the simplification of BT's operating model," said
BT CEO Gavin Patterson.
BT noted that its global services unit will continue to provide
services to multinational companies within the U.K. and
worldwide.
