Company is first to achieve prestigious
certification for quality management system
Halliburton's Baroid drilling fluids and waste management
service line has received the American Petroleum Institute (API)
Specification Q2 Certification – an advanced industry certification
standard for oil and natural gas service companies – for its work
in the Gulf of Mexico.
API Q2 is a new, risk-based quality management system approach
that focuses on competency, service design, contingency planning,
supply chain controls, preventive maintenance, inspection, service
quality plans and management of change. The certification
demonstrates an organization’s commitment to go above and beyond
current generic quality management system standards.
“The achievement of API Q2 Certification is a testament to
Halliburton’s commitment to consistent processes, improved safety
and superior service quality,” said Jeff Miller, Halliburton’s
executive vice president and chief operating officer. “Halliburton
has been a strong and active supporter of API Q2 from the beginning
and is pleased to be the first in the world to achieve this
important standard.”
“Q2 Certification is the new standard of excellence for oil and
natural gas service providers,” said John Modine, API’s vice
president for Global Industry Services. “Facilities applying for
certification undergo extensive audits for their safety practices
and the quality of their work. We congratulate Halliburton on being
the first to earn this distinction.”
API Q2 was first published in December 2011. Additional
Halliburton business lines are working toward achieving the
certification.
