As Hurricane Idalia approaches the west coast of Florida, some terminals have taken precautions with plans to shut down later this evening.

Kinder Morgan Inc. has confirmed that it is planning to shut down the Tampa refined products terminal as well as the Central Florida Pipeline system later Tuesday. Sources said that the terminal is expected to close at 8 p.m. ET this evening.

"Our Orlando refined products facility remains operational at this time, but we are closely monitoring the storm's progress to prepare for any impacts," Kinder Morgan spokesperson Amy Baek said in an emailed statement.

Kinder Morgan has also closed the Port Manatee, Port Sutton and Tampaplex terminals.

Sources said that Chevron Corp.'s terminal in Tampa has shut down as well, and that because vessel traffic has been slowed, the company's Panama City terminal is out of fuel.

Additionally, the Center Point Terminal in Jacksonville is closing this evening at 10 p.m. ET.
