Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC's (RBS.LN) Chief Executive
Alison Rose on Friday called on employees to exceed the bank's
objectives for the year ahead, and confirmed two appointments to
the executive committee.
In a letter to employees on her first day in the role, Ms. Rose
said she wants the bank to do its part on tackling the threat from
climate change, a lack of financial confidence and barriers to
enterprise and growth.
"Simplifying what we do and making bold choices about how we
deliver for customers, will also be part of an ambitious plan for
the future that I will share in the New Year," Ms. Rose said in the
letter.
Ms. Rose also said that Commercial & Private Banking will
cease to exist as one business area. Paul Thwaite has been
appointed as the new CEO for Commercial Banking and Peter Flavel
has been confirmed as CEO for Private Banking, she said. Ms. Rose
previously headed the Commercial & Private Banking division
before her appointment as group CEO in September.
Shares at 1112 GMT were up 1.00 pence, or 0.5%, at 213.70
pence.
