Sodexho to Enhance Indoor and Outdoor Dining at New York City
Landmark Church NEW YORK, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sodexho
(NYSE:SDX) announced today that the company's Corporate Services
Division has been named the new restaurant provider for the
venerable St. Bartholomew's Church in midtown Manhattan. This
spring, Sodexho will develop a new sustainable concept for the
restaurant at St. Bart's, which includes indoor/outdoor facilities
and catering services. Located at Park Avenue and 51st Street in
one of New York's most treasured landmark buildings, St.
Bartholomew's Church is a unique destination that welcomes a
vibrant and diverse community in both spiritual and practical ways.
"We're absolutely delighted to have Sodexho as the new operator of
our restaurant at St. Bart's," said The Rev. William McD. Tully,
Rector of St. Bartholomew's Church. He continued, "They're a
business -- and we're a church, obviously. But hospitality in the
best and deepest sense is at the heart of both our missions." Under
this new agreement, Sodexho will collaborate with St. Bart's Church
to create a more flexible indoor space for dining and special
events, as well as improve operations for the popular outdoor
terrace. Sodexho will invest over $2 million in this project with
major plans for the construction of a new kitchen and the redesign
of the indoor restaurant space, partnering with New York-based
Conant Architects and foodservice design consultant Pascoe-Jacobs
Associates. "We are excited to join with St. Bart's on this new
venture," said Sodexho's Market President and COO Michael Norris.
"Our shared goals of supporting the community and sustainability
are at the core of our operations. This is a very special
partnership and we are committed to taking this historic site to a
higher level and providing diners with inventive cuisine, a
welcoming ambience and fabulous service." Today's St.
Bartholomew's, the church's third location in New York City, opened
in 1918. The dome and much of the interior decoration were added in
1929-30; the adjacent Community House dates from 1927. Currently,
St. Bart's is a lively community that, in addition to worship
services, offers many events and programs including the Great Music
Series, the Summer Festival of Sacred Music, The Center for
Religious Inquiry, St. Bartholomew's Boy and Girl Choristers and
other programs. To learn more about St. Bart's, visit
