Telefonica SA (TEF.MC) will offer low-cost plans for phone and internet services in Spain through its O2 brand, which is already used by the company's businesses in Germany and the U.K, the company said Tuesday.

The Spanish telecommunications company said that the new O2 services will be activated in "beta" mode in the coming days, with the mass-market launch scheduled for September.

The brand will sell a mobile phone-only plan for 20 euros ($23.5) per month, as well as a mobile phone plus fiber-optic internet services plan for 45 euros per month, but the offer won't include TV services, Telefonica said.

Following O2's launch, Telefonica will operate in the Spanish market with three brands, including Movistar and low-cost brand Tuenti.
