Assure Begins Work With Prominent Vascular
Group
PARKER, CO, Sept. 19, 2017 /CNW/ - Assure Holdings
Corp. (the "Company" or "Assure") (TSXV: IOM; OTCBB: ARHH),
announces today that it has recently begun working with and
performing intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) for a premier
group of vascular surgeons in the Denver area. Vascular surgeons specialize in
surgical treatment of the arteries that are critical circulatory
pathways throughout the body. Assure's technologists are able to
use their same equipment and skill set in vascular surgeries, just
as they do in spine surgery, to monitor nerves and brain function
in real time.
Preston Parsons, Founder and CEO
of Assure commented, "This marks a very significant step in the
evolution of the company. Vascular surgery is a vastly underserved
part of the IONM market. We are pleased to have technologists with
the level of knowledge and skill needed to participate in these
complicated surgeries."
Vascular surgery comprises about 1/3 of the IONM market in
the United States. The most common
vascular surgeries include carotid surgery and aortic surgery. IONM
is also being adopted in other vascular procedures as the
technology is more universally recognized as improving patient
outcomes.
Numerous vascular procedures place one or more aspects of the
patient's nervous system at risk, either from direct surgical
manipulation or ischemia secondary to the vascular procedure being
preformed. IONM can help assess these neural structures
during the vascular procedure to help ensure the safety and
functionality of the nervous structures. For example, during
a Carotid Endarterectomy blood flow through the operative carotid
artery is occluded, decreasing the overall blood flow to the brain.
IONM is utilized during this procedure to help ensure that adequate
perfusion of the cerebral cortex is maintained. Overall, IONM
provides invaluable information to vascular surgeons regarding
functionality of nervous structures placed at risk from the
vascular operation.
Parsons continued, "Furthermore, now that we have expanded into
vascular surgery, our current addressable market has increased
significantly and has helped pave the way for future expansion into
this underserved surgical vertical."
