Japanese chemicals group Toray Industries Inc (3402.TO) has decided to set up its global carbon fiber production center at Lacq, in southwest France, according to an unsourced report in Thursday's edition of Le Figaro.

Toray will invest more than EUR500 million in the project, which will create about 2,500 jobs, according to the newspaper, which said the company had also been considering sites in South Korea and Japan.
