                            RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR

Mr Jim Kennedy today retired from the Pacific Dunlop Limited Board after 17
years as a Director, the last eight as Chairman of the Corporate Conduct
Committee.

Mr Kennedy said he had resigned to restructure his Board activities and look for
new challenges.

He remains Chairman of the Queensland Investment Corporation; Chairman of
Queensland Corrections; Deputy Chairman of GWA International Ltd; Director of
the Australian Stock Exchange Ltd; Director of Industrial Property Management
Ltd; Director of Qantas Airways Ltd; and Director of Suncorp Metway.

The Chairman of Pacific Dunlop, Mr John Gough, paid tribute to the role Mr
Kennedy had played in the development of the company.

"Jim has played an important part in the development of Pacific Dunlop over the
past 17 years.  We have reluctantly accepted his decision to retire and wish him
all the best in the future," Mr Gough said.
