--British telecoms company BT has lowered its target for the number of 'ultrafast' broadband lines by 2020 to 8.7 million from 10 million previously, reports the Financial Times.

-- Citing a letter to customers, the FT says BT now intends to upgrade 5.7 million copper lines, and install 3.0 million full fiber lines, in the period to 2020.

-- A spokesperson for BT's Openreach told the FT that full fiber upgrades are its current priority, and its ambition is to reach 10 million of such lines by the mid 2020s.
