astrea(TM) Bottle Passes Rigorous Testing for Lead Reduction

May 21, 2018, (SEATTLE, WA) - Clean water innovator HaloSource Corporation ("HaloSource" or the "Company") announces today that its astrea(TM) water bottle has successfully completed testing which will enable certification of the bottle to the NSF 53 standard for lead reduction in the second half of 2018. This is a significant milestone for the Company, its patent-pending technology and for consumers, as the bottle will offer "best-in-class" protection from lead contamination and is expected to be the only bottle in the world certified to the NSF53 standard for lead reduction.

HaloSource CEO James Thompson commented, "While other filtering bottles make lead removal claims, there is presently no other bottle on the market that offers the performance of our astrea bottle when it comes to lead reduction. There is a substantial difference between claiming a reduction of lead and being able to pass the rigorous test conditions required to achieve the NSF/ANSI 53 standard. With lead showing up in water systems in cities across America such as Newark, Oakland, Pittsburgh and, most recently, Chicago, consumers are looking for better ways to protect themselves. We see the astrea bottle as the next generation of reusable bottle, providing users with confidence in the safety of the water they drink from it."

"The NSF/ANSI 53 standard mandates a maximum allowable value of 10 parts per billion (lower than the EPA action limit) and requires that the testing be performed at two specific pH values. This is critical because the pH of water (which varies according to the source) impacts the water characteristics, which affects the physical form of lead (soluble or insoluble). Our technology is robust enough to remove both soluble and insoluble lead at both pH 6.5 and 8.5. By testing to NSF/ANSI 53, we will give our customers the assurance that our product is tested to the highest possible standard and is effective at removing both forms of lead to levels at or below the EPA established standard safe for consumption", said Christopher Ashley, PhD, the company's Director of Commercialization.

The Company's bottle has also passed testing for mercury, chlorine and zinc reduction, and is expected to be certified for these additional contaminants when the product is commercially available later this year. The bottle concluded a successful Indiegogo crowdfund campaign earlier this month, and remains available for pre-order on the platform's InDemand site at https://igg.me/at/astrea.
