                  OEM plc announces death of Chief Executive


It is with enormous regret and sorrow that OEM plc announces the sudden and
unexpected death yesterday of Brian Schneider, its Chief Executive.  Brian had
been with OEM for many years and was held in great affection and respect by all
who knew him.


Mr R P B Noonan, Chairman, commented:


"The Board of OEM plc would like to extend its deepest and most sincere
condolences to Brian's family at this time of great sorrow.  He will be greatly
missed by all his colleagues and the people he has worked with.


While it is difficult to focus on business matters at a time of personal
tragedy, we remain confident in the long-term future of the business."


Until further notice Mr R P B Noonan will be acting Chief Executive of OEM.
