Intel Foundry Services on Monday said it launched Accelerator, an ecosystem alliance aiming to help foundry customers smoothly bring silicon products "from idea to implementation."

Intel said Accelerator will promote collaboration across electronic design automation, intellectual property and design services to accelerate customer innovation. A preliminary phase of Accelerator was launched in September to help automotive chip designers transition to more advanced process technologies, Intel Foundry Services said.

Today's launch enhances the ecosystem alliance by providing support from electronic design automation and design services providers, the company said.

Intel Foundry Services said 17 founding partner companies are involved with the Accelerator, including Cadence Design Systems, Synopsys Inc., Capgemini SE, Wipro Ltd. and Ansys Inc.

Also on Monday, the company said it was launching a $1 billion fund to support early-stage startups and established companies building disruptive technologies for the foundry ecosystem. The fund is a collaboration between Intel Capital and Intel Foundry Services, Intel said.
