MRO Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: MROI), the leading provider of asset
and service management solutions, today announced that the Clark
County School District (CCSD) in Las Vegas, Nev., one of the
nation's largest districts, has gone live with Maximo Enterprise
Suite (MXES). CCSD has completed the first phase of the MXES
implementation. The solution will be used to track, maintain and
manage school facilities, vehicles, inventory and supplies used to
manage the 325 school facilities contained in the district's
approximately 8,000 square miles. Later phases of the
implementation will include bar-coding and mobility applications.
The MXES implementation will replace several legacy systems, and is
expected to become the principal work planning and facilities asset
management solution for CCSD, eventually managing approximately
80,000 to 100,000 assets. The MXES architecture enables the
application to be hosted at one central location while supporting
the business processes and information needs at geographically
dispersed locations. Later phases of the roll out will leverage the
solution's architectural flexibility to integrate MXES into the
district's financial software system. The new system, when
complete, is expected to deliver more accurate and timely cost
information, eliminate duplicate data entry and facilitate improved
work order management. The team will use the solution to increase
facility uptime and reliability through a greater emphasis on
preventive maintenance. "As one of the nation's fastest growing
school districts, it's imperative that we manage our existing and
planned infrastructure in the most efficient means possible," said
Randy Shingleton, director of maintenance, CCSD. "Our current plans
call for the construction of approximately a dozen schools each
year to keep pace with this region's growth. In order to stay ahead
of this growth curve we evaluated a number of solutions in the
asset and service management market and selected Maximo Enterprise
Suite. We expect that when the MXES project is completed, we will
be able to streamline our work processes, improve asset tracking
and enhance budget accountability, improve material processes, and
reduce costs through standardization on one software platform."
This recent go-live with CCSD is further evidence of MRO Software's
on going support for the public sector market. During the past year
the company has increased its commitment to the market by merging
its federal government group with its state and local groups into a
new public sector industry group. The company has added new
resources and software functionality aimed at helping federal,
state and local government agencies better manage their critical
infrastructure assets at a time of shrinking staffs and budgets. In
addition to providing industry expertise, the public sector group
is able to offer new capabilities and best practices tailored for
government agency applications. These include improved facilities
capabilities, improved mobile functionality, a geographic
information system (GIS) module that provides a spatial framework
for managing geographically dispersed assets, and an enhanced
linear asset management system that enables customers with assets
such as railways, roads and pipelines to improve their safety,
reliability and maintenance costs. "We're pleased to be able to
help Clark County better meet its growth challenges and provide a
quality learning environment for the students, " said Mark Gruzin,
vice president, public sector group, MRO Software. "These agencies
and entities are under increasing pressure to improve labor
efficiencies, and the performance of facilities, fleets and other
assets, all while satisfying new regulatory requirements. Money
spent maintaining roads, trains, buses, cars, schools, utilities,
government buildings, and information technology represent
significant taxpayer investments. Our customers have found that our
solutions can be effective in meeting these requirements. The
public sector group, in combination with our proven Maximo
Enterprise Suite solution can help this critical market to meet
these goals." Existing MRO Software customers in the public sector
market have recognized the benefits derived from Maximo
implementations. The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)
has tapped MRO Software's public sector expertise to help it
provide planning, engineering, construction, maintenance and
repair, and operations support for its schools and other
infrastructure assets. Other recent customers include the City of
Jacksonville, Georgia Department of Administrative Services,
Gwinnett County Public Schools, Lower Colorado River Authority,
McCarran International Airport, Orange County Public Works,
Sacramento Regional Wastewater, Sarasota County Government, Sandia
National Laboratory and the U.S. Air Force. About Clark County
School District As the fifth-largest and one of the fastest-growing
school districts in the nation, the Clark County School District
(CCSD) expects to serve more than 300,000 students in the fall of
2006. For the past 10 years, CCSD has welcomed approximately 12,000
new students a year with no sign of slowing in the future. The
projections made by the district historically have been very
accurate - predicting student populations with an error rate of
less than one percent. CCSD has one of the most aggressive building
programs anywhere in the nation - building more schools (160) in
the past 15 years than any other school district in the country. In
November 1998, county voters approved $3.5 billion in funding for a
10-year building program. With these funds, the district promised
to build new schools, renovate existing schools, acquire land for
future school sites and provide two new bus yards. Schools built in
the last decade have won Excellence in Design awards from the
American Institute of Architects Nevada, two Awards of Excellence
from the National School Board Association, the Monarch Award
(among others) from the Council for Educational Facility Planners
International, and the Learning Environment Award from the National
Supply and Equipment Association. About MRO Software, Inc. MRO
