PayPal Holdings Inc. on Monday said it agreed to a multi-year
sponsorship agreement with Major League Soccer's San Jose
Earthquakes, which includes naming rights for the team's
stadium.
The Earthquakes' stadium in San Jose, Calif., will be named
PayPal Park as part of the 10-year deal.
"PayPal Park will be outfitted with PayPal's digital payments
technology, including the ability to pay touch-free with QR codes
at point-of-sale systems around the stadium and feature benefits
like fast lanes that provide fans paying with PayPal or Venmo a
quicker checkout experience," the company said.
PayPal Park will feature a 250-seat reserved section that will
host members of the community who will be given access to
complimentary tickets and transportation to and from home matches,
the company said.
"For each home game, PayPal and the Quakes will spotlight a
small business, driving exposure through signage, curated social
media promotion and other marketing activities," the company
said.
Local youth and nonprofit organizations will be invited to
Earthquakes' training sessions and fans will be given special
offers and discounts, PayPal said.
