American Water's Dr. Mark LeChevallier to Participate in Southeastern Regional Technology Transfer Conference

water and wastewater utility company, today announced Dr. Mark
LeChevallier, director of Innovation & Environmental
Stewardship, will participate in the South Carolina Section of the
American Water Works Association’s Southeastern Regional Technology
Transfer Conference in Greenville, S.C. on Jan. 28.
LeChevallier will present on “The Development of a Risk
Management Strategy for Legionella” and highlight American
Water's Legionella research. American Water was awarded
a research grant to develop risk management strategies
for Legionella in reclaimed water systems. The project utilizes
"conventional, culture-based, and state of the art molecular
procedures" to better understand reclaimed water quality and
establish its relationship with Legionella occurrence and
inactivation.
Later that day, LeChevallier will present on the topic,
“Environmental Audits Help Drive Environmental Excellence” and
discuss how American Water’s Environmental Audit Program plays a
key role in helping American Water maintain its high
environmental compliance record.
The South Carolina Section of the American Water Works
Association and the Water Research Foundation are co-sponsoring the
22nd annual Southeastern Regional Technology Transfer Conference.
The event will feature of mixture of technical researchers and
industry leaders from around the country discussing technology and
issues that shape the future of the potable water industry.
