Helping Canada's children succeed through
baseball
TORONTO, March 28, 2017 /CNW/ - Invesco today
announced it has partnered with Jays Care Foundation, the
charitable arm of the Toronto Blue JaysTM, who
believe that when used intentionally, baseball has the power to
create lasting social change for children and youth in marginalized
communities across Canada.
"We are proud to extend our partnership with the Toronto Blue
Jays to include the team's philanthropic work," said
Aysha Mawani, Vice President,
Corporate Affairs, Invesco Canada. "At Invesco, we believe the more
you put into life, the more you get out of it. The mission of Jays
Care Foundation helps bolster that belief among young Canadians who
might not otherwise have access to sporting facilities."
Jays Care Foundation uses baseball to teach life skills and
effect lasting social change for children and youth by creating a
level playing field in marginalized communities across Canada. In 2017, Jays Care will invest over
$6 million nationwide to positively
impact the lives of 65,000 children and youth.
Jays Care runs seven signature programs designed to tackle some
of the most dramatic opportunity gaps in Canada, including those facing children and
youth in low-income housing and remote and northern First Nations,
young women and those living with physical and/or cognitive
disabilities. Using the power of the Blue Jays brand, Jays Care's
programs seek to instill in children and youth the life skills
inherent to baseball: teamwork, dedication, leadership and
resiliency.
