WebMD Health Corp. (WBMD) said Thursday that it isn't in any
negotiations to be acquired, after a media report said the company
was considering a sale of part or all of the company.
Late Wednesday, The Financial Times reported that WebMD has held
talks with potential buyers, citing people familiar with the
situation. The FT said Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. (WBA) and
UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) were potential bidders.
A representative for the FT was unavailable for immediate
comment.
WebMD's shares fell sharply after denying the talks. Shares were
recently down 6% at $50 a share after trading as high as $58.25
Thursday on deal speculation.
