Elanco Animal Health Inc. (ELAN) said it received a second
request for information from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission
regarding its planned acquisition of Bayer AG's animal health
business.
In August, the two companies announced a deal that will see
Elanco acquire the unit in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $7.6
billion. At the time, the companies said the transaction was
expected to close by the middle of next year.
Elanco said Monday, "The request was anticipated as part of the
regulatory process under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust
Improvements Act of 1976 and the review continues to progress as
expected."
