MUMBAI, India, April 21, 2016 /CNW/ - Clearford Water
Systems Inc. ("Clearford" or the "Company"), (TSXV: CLI), is
pleased to announce that the Company has officially commissioned
its first Clearford One™ installation in India on April 21,
2016 in Jambudiyapura, a tribal village in Gujarat. The
Clearford One™ system in Jambudiyapura that services 53 homes
includes back yard toilet blocks with shower and kitchen washing
facilities for each home, making it the first open-defecation free
village in Gujarat.
"We are very excited to be commissioning of our first system in
India" said Clearford CEO
Kevin Loiselle "We believe that an
operational site at Jambudiyapura proving the performance of our
technology should lead to wide spread adoption of the Clearford
OneTM system in India"
he continued.
The toilet blocks have been built to incorporate
ClearDigestTM Smart Digesters and water supply tanks
within the structural design. The individual toilet blocks
discharge partially treated liquid effluent from the Smart
Digesters to the ClearConveyTM sealed pipe network that
will insure no leaking infiltration. The Jambudiyapura project will
employ a CAMUS-SBT structured wetland as the
ClearRecoverTM module. This will be delivered under the
memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on February 10, 2015 with Vision Earth Care Pvt. Ltd
(VEC). VEC was created to commercialize the wetland technology
development by the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai. The final
discharge will be disinfected using UV Pure's patented
Crossfire® technology before being released into an
approved drainage ditch on the neighbouring farmland, where
effluent quality will meet all Indian government regulations.
The project is funded by the Corporate Social Responsibly (CSR)
department of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services
Limited (IL&FS), one of India's largest infrastructure companies. It
is the Gujarat Road and Infrastructure Company Limited (GRICL), a
subsidiary of IL&FS, whose CSR budget is being deployed for
this project. It is anticipated by all parties that a successful
installation will result in a product that can be delivered to
thousands of villages throughout Gujarat and India. This representants an opportunity to
leverage the MOU Clearford signed with the Gujarat Water Supply and
Sewage Board (GWSSB) in January 2015
and should lead to significant follow-on installations with the
participation of both IL&FS and GWSSB.
