Nestle SA said Wednesday that it has launched a new range of
plant-based products in China, and inaugurated its first
plant-based production site in Asia in the Chinese city of
Tianjin.
The Swiss food-and-beverage giant's Harvest Gourmet brand
comprises plant-based versions of meat products such as burgers,
sausages, kung pao chicken and pork belly. The range will be
available for retail and for out-of-home sales, and responds to
growing demand for such products from Chinese consumers, Nestle
said.
The Harvest Gourmet range will be produced at Nestle's first
plant-based site in Asia in the city of Tianjin. The facility is
already operational, the company said. The range joins similar
plant-based product brands operated by Nestle in Europe and the
U.S.
