COMINO PLC:
OVERSEAS CONTRACT AWARD
#500,000 Australian Order Marks
Breakthrough For Comino
Comino plc, the workflow technology and software applications group, has won
its first order in Australia. Its Context Computers subsidiary, which provides
integrated management software for housing associations and local authorities,
has been awarded a A$1.25 million (#500,000) contract by Australia's Defence
Housing Authority (DHA).
The Authority chose Context's CTX product after a select tender process
involving a number of competing packages. It is expected that the new system
will be fully implemented by March, 1999.
Comino Chief Executive Garth Selvey commented: "It is particularly gratifying
to have won an order of this magnitude in Australia and from a client that was
formerly committed to an Oracle-based system. The decision to move to an
Informix-based system, such as Context CTX, will not have been taken lightly.
Context won out against a number of competitors, including prominent UK-based
suppliers."
The DHA is responsible for meeting the housing requirements of Australia's
Department of Defence and provides IT services for the tenant management
function. It manages 21,000 houses around Australia. The selection of Context
as a replacement for the DHA's existing system was made after the DHA had
teleconferenced a number of Context's UK customers. It was based on the degree
of fit between the functionality provided by Context and the DHA's business
requirements - and Context's commitment to support the product outside the UK.
