Spirent Communications, a global leader in wireless networks, services and devices testing, today announced that China Telecom has selected the Spirent C2K-ATS automated device system to test EV-DO Revision B (Rev. B) mobile devices. With Spirent, China Telecom is able to ensure superior subscriber quality of experience (QoE) for mobile device and smartphones on its high-speed 3G data network.

The EV-DO Rev. B deployment marks the next phase of China Telecom’s 3G services rollout. This allows China Telecom to improve the capacity and throughput of its existing wireless network, while enhancing quality of 3G services such as video on demand (VoD), VoIP and streaming video.

“China Telecom is moving toward offering higher 3G data rates, however, it is very serious about maintaining the quality of service delivered to its wireless subscribers,” said Hesham ElHamahmy, vice president of wireless product marketing at Spirent. “By leveraging Spirent’s mobile device performance and conformance testing capability, China Telecom ensures its subscribers will enjoy the best data experience delivered at some of the highest 3G rates currently available in China.”

Spirent C2K-ATS system is the de facto industry standard for CDMA and EV-DO device testing. Nearly all of the CDMA and EV-DO mobile device designs deployed in the world today have been tested on this system. In addition to automated conformance testing, the single-platform multi-function tool can be tailored for mobile device design-verification testing (DVT), product integration and debugging, and the resolution of post-deployment issues by quantifying device performance in terms of RF performance, protocol issues and A-GPS performance.
