Italy's ENI SpA (ENI.MI) said Tuesday that it has made a
significant gas and condensates discovery onshore the Niger Delta
in Nigeria through its joint venture NAOC.
The find amounts to around 1 trillion cubic feet of gas and 60
million barrels of associated condensate, with further potential to
be assessed with the next appraisal campaign, Eni said. The well
will be immediately put on-stream, the energy company said.
NAOC is a joint venture between Eni, which holds 20% and acts as
operator; Nigerian National Petroleum Corp., which holds 60% and
Nigeria's OandO PLC (OANDO.LA), which owns the remaining 20%.
The discovery was made in the deeper sequences of the
Obiafu-Obrikom fields in OML61.
