Eni SpA said late Tuesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission to cooperate on energy initiatives.

The agreement "establishes a cooperation framework aimed at facilitating joint initiatives between Eni and Chinese counterparts across the entire energy value chain in China and internationally," the oil-and-gas company said.

The partnership will allow for the sharing of knowledge and assess the impact of energy policies among other goals, it said. They will also explore potential collaboration projects that would focus on low-carbon energy sources.
