BEN BAILEY PLC ("the Company")

Ben Bailey Plc announces that on 9 May 2003 it issued and allotted 32,000
ordinary shares of 10p each to employees pursuant to the exercise of share
options.  The options were exercised at the following prices:

12,000 ordinary shares at 38.5p per share; and
20,000 ordinary shares at 49p per share.

Application will be made for the shares to be admitted to the Official List of
the London Stock Exchange. It is expected that dealings in the new shares will
commence on 16 May 2003.
