On 23rd September 2003 Enterprise Inns QUEST Trustees Limited, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Enterprise Inns plc, as trustee of the Enterprise Inns QUEST
subscribed, at a price of 910 pence per share, to a total of 116,714 new
Ordinary shares of 10p each in Enterprise Inns plc.

The shares will be used to satisfy future awards to option holders under The
Enterprise Inns Savings Related Share Option Scheme.

As potential beneficiaries under the Enterprise Inns QUEST, each executive
director of Enterprise Inns plc is treated as being interested in all shares
held by the Enterprise Inns QUEST. As of today's date, the Enterprise Inns QUEST
holds 292,515 Ordinary shares in Enterprise Inns plc. The directors of
