Saras SpA (SRS.MI) Italy's second-biggest independent refiner by capacity said it expected to conduct a much lighter maintenance program on its 300,000 barrels a day Sarroch refinery in 2010, following a heavy schedule of maintenance and upgrading in 2009.

Speaking during a conference call following the announcement of the company's third-quarter results, General Manager Dario Scaffardi said turnaround in 2010 is expected to include work on the refinery's Mild-hydrocracking and Visbreaking units, while topping and vacuum units are planned to be upgraded.

Most of the maintenance is expected to be carried out in the first two quarters of 2010.

No further maintenance work is planned to take place for the rest of 2009, Scaffardi said.
