Thales has won a contract worth roughly 305 million euros
($327.1 million) to provide in-service support for the Canadian
Navy's fleet of warships.
The French aerospace-and-defense company said Thursday that the
Canadian government had selected Thales Canada and Thales Australia
in a joint venture, for an initial service period of five years,
for the Royal Canadian Navy's fleet of Minor Warships and Auxiliary
Vessels that includes about 100 vessels from 24 different
classes.
Thales will ensure the fleet remains operationally fit, with the
flexibility to increase or reduce the number of vessels serviced.
The contract also carries an extension option of up to 19 years in
total.
In July, the joint venture secured a similar contract to provide
in-service support for the Canadian Armed Forces' fleet of Minor
Warships and Auxiliary Vessels.
