Amazon.com Inc. said Tuesday that it will launch Amazon Clinic, a virtual medical service that would connect customers with clinicians for common health conditions.

The e-commerce company said customers with allergies, acne and hair loss symptoms, among other common health conditions, would be able to use this virtual-care option.

Each customer would have the choice to select a preferred licensed and qualified telehealth provider, who would also be allowed to prescribe treatments, the company said.

The price of each virtual session would depend on Amazon's health providers, it said, adding that customers would be eligible to use their insurance to cover any medication costs prescribed by clinicians.

Amazon Clinic is expected to be initially available in 32 states, the company said, without providing any further details.

Shares at 9:47 a.m. ET are up 3.5%, at $101.94.
