A group led by private equity firm Corsair Capital LLC is the front-runner to buy 315 branches from Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (RBS, RBS.LN), Reuters reported Friday, citing three sources with knowledge of the deal.

The Corsair group includes Centerbridge Partners LP and the Church of England's endowment fund.
