PR Newswire (US)
SANDUSKY, Ohio, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- During Labor Day Weekend,
past employees of Cedar Point will be making a trip back to the
shores of Lake Erie to participate in "Back to the Point," the
Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort's second employee reunion.
More than 500 people, and growing daily, are expected to attend the
event that will be headquartered in the park's historic Grand
Ballroom on Saturday, Sept. 5. Families of employees are also
encouraged to attend. This year's participants will hail from more
than a dozen states. While Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Indiana
are home to most of the employees, others are traveling from as far
away as Texas, Florida, New Jersey and Washington. "It was a great
opportunity to meet people from all over the country," said Dawn
Fullerton-Dunleavy, of San Antonio, Texas. She worked at Cedar
Point for two summers in the mid-Seventies and is meeting two other
former employees. All three graduated from Eastern Michigan
University in Ypsilanti. This will be the first time she has
returned to the park in 30 years. The participants will also
represent more than seven decades of employees. Faith Poock, of
Sandusky, worked at the bathhouse on the Cedar Point Beach in the
1940s. She and her daughter, who worked in the Oceana Stadium forty
years later, will be attending "Back to the Point" for the second
year in a row. Besides mingling with old friends, the event will
also include a picnic dinner and a dance in the Ballroom from
8-10:30 p.m. Other activities will include a group photo, scavenger
hunt and an end-of-the day ride on Millennium Force. The Labor Day
Weekend will conclude Cedar Point's daily operating schedule. The
park will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday,
Sept. 5-6, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7. Cedar Point
will reopen on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays beginning Sept.
11 through Nov. 1. For more information about Back to the Point and
