WebMD Health Corp. on Monday said it agreed to buy fellow
health-information provider Aptus Health from Merck & Co. (MRK)
for an undisclosed amount.
WebMD said the deal adds Aptus Health's flagship Univadis brand
to its Medscape franchise of clinical news, health information,
education and point-of-care tools.
Univadis, an information and education platform that delivers
medical news, conference and research updates, and education to
four million healthcare providers in 91 countries, WebMD said.
Internet Brands, owned by private-equity firm KKR & Co.
(KKR) and Singapore state investment firm Temasek Holdings,
acquired WebMD for $2.8 billion in 2017.
Kenilworth, N.J., drug maker Merck acquired Aptus Health, then
known as Physicians Interactive, in 2013.
