Uber Direct’s on-demand delivery helps
1-800-Flowers.com and its BloomNet network of local florists
fulfill more orders during peak holidays
1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLWS) and Uber Technologies,
Inc. (NYSE: UBER) today announced a new collaboration leveraging
Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, to help florists
nationwide fulfill more orders. The announcement comes just ahead
of Valentine’s Day—one of the busiest floral holidays of the
year.
Through this collaboration, the 1-800-Flowers.comⓇ network of
local florists, BloomNet®, can seamlessly tap into Uber Direct’s
extensive delivery technology and network to enable faster, more
flexible deliveries, and meet demand during peak holiday surges and
year-round.
For florists, managing delivery logistics for high-demand
holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day presents a
significant challenge. While many flower shops have year-round
drivers and dedicated delivery vans, limited vehicle capacity often
forces them to turn down orders during holiday rushes. By
integrating Uber Direct, florists who are part of the
1-800-Flowers.com BloomNet network and using the BloomNet
proprietary Business Management System (BMS) gain instant access to
additional drivers, ensuring timely delivery of bouquets even
during peak holiday rushes.
“Valentine’s is one of the most important and demanding weeks
for florists. This year, we anticipate delivering about 24 million
stems for the holiday,” said Jon Feldman, President of BloomNet.
“Our team is constantly out in the field personally visiting and
building relationships with the thousands of shops in our floral
network. We understand the logistical delivery challenges
surrounding peak holidays such as Valentine’s Day, so we’ve teamed
up with Uber Direct to provide our network with additional support.
With Uber Direct, our florists can further their delivery capacity,
ensuring more people can show their love and appreciation with
fresh flowers—without compromise.”
By leveraging Uber’s global logistics expertise, BloomNet
florists using BMS can dynamically dispatch, track, and fulfill
same-day floral deliveries, even as demand spikes. This is
especially important for a holiday like Valentine’s Day, when many
shoppers purchase last-minute.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with 1-800-Flowers.com
year-round, but especially to make this Valentine’s Day gifting
seamless,” said Kiran Vinta, Head of Uber Direct for the US &
Canada at Uber. “With Uber Direct, florists can meet increased
demand without logistical bottlenecks, ensuring that no bouquet—or
heartfelt sentiment—goes undelivered.”
Uber Direct allows merchants to maintain full control over the
customer experience, offering white-label delivery without
redirecting buyers to third-party apps. The service is already
powering deliveries across multiple industries, from retail to
grocery, and now, flowers.
By integrating Uber Direct, 1-800-Flowers.com reinforces its
commitment to innovation, ensuring its BloomNet florists have the
resources to meet seasonal demand surges while providing a top-tier
customer experience.
This collaboration is now live across the U.S. in over 1,000
BloomNet network shops. 1-800-Flowers.com accepts floral orders for
same-day delivery through 3 pm local time in most parts of the
country, and up to 6 pm local time in select markets.
