Sale of interest in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Grand Cayman


AMEC plc, the international engineering services company, today announces that
it has sold its hotel interests in the Grand Cayman to Embassy Investments
Limited.


The sale, by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cayman Hotel & Golf Inc., was for a
gross consideration of US$40.75 million, US$17.8 million of which has now been
received, with the balance expected in June 2004. The net assets attributable to
the sale were US$40.5 million at 31 December 2002.


Net proceeds of the disposal will be used to reduce bank debt.
