Denmark's A.P. Moeller-Maersk AS (MAERSK-B.KO) on Tuesday made
two new executive appointments as it takes the next steps toward
becoming a more integrated shipping and logistics player.
Vincent Clerc is named chief executive of Maersk's ocean and
logistics unit, while Henriette Hallberg Thygesen is appointed
chief executive of towage, manufacturing and others.
Mr. Clerc has held various roles within Maersk since 1997,
including chief commercial officer of Maersk Line and most recently
chief commercial officer of A.P. Moeller-Maersk.
Ms. Thygesen joined Maersk in 1994 and has held various senior
positions in Spain, China, the U.S. and Copenhagen for Maersk
Tankers, Maersk Oil, Maersk Logistics/Damco. As well as now
assuming responsibility of towage, manufacturing and others, she
will also continue in her role as chief executive of Svitzer.
Maersk has spent recent years transforming from being a
sprawling diversified conglomerate to an integrated end-to-end
logistics provider.
"A year ago, we integrated our customer-facing roles across the
company. We are now ready to accelerate the execution of our
strategy through increased commercial and operational integration,"
A.P. Moeller-Maersk Chief Executive Soren Skou said.
"With the new leadership structure announced today, I am
confident that we will increase the pace. We have a simple and
agile foundation for profitable growth and the new executive board
is united in the goal of integrating our value proposition and
maximizing the value creation across the business."
