BERLIN--Deutsche Telekom AG (DTE.XE), Vodafone Group PLC
(VOD.LN) and Telefonica SA (TEF.MC) will pay a total of 5.08
billion euros ($5.78 billion) for German mobile broadband spectrum,
the country's Federal Network Agency said Friday after auctions had
ended.
Deutsche Telekom agreed to pay EUR1.79 billion, Vodafone EUR2.09
billion and Telefonica EUR1.20 billion, through their German
subsidiaries.
Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone both acquired spectrum in the 700,
900, 1500 and 1800 megahertz areas and Telefonica in the 700, 900
and 1800 megahertz areas.
Telefonica's German unit said the additional frequencies enable
the company to expand its high-speed network and its network
capacity.
