SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico,
Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As
part of the MCS Foundation's initiatives to help Puerto Rico, a group of 30 employee volunteers
from MCS Healthcare Holdings, LLC (MCS), a leading healthcare
company in Puerto Rico, went to
the Las Margaritas community to celebrate the reopening of the
nonprofit Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico (BGCPR) center, and brought hot
meals, music and entertainment to all the residents and children
benefitting from the center's services.
MCS volunteers helped distribute hot meals to 1,500 people and
for at least a few hours, the community was able to forget about
its particular circumstances and enjoy a pleasant time with music,
while receiving the support and warmth these affected communities
need so much.
"We have come to donate our time and serve the Las Margaritas
community in this entire situation. The MCS Foundation is
committed to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Puerto Rico (BGCPR), which are
engaged in commendable work every day in their tremendous
dedication to those they serve. However, given the devastation
caused by Hurricane María, these communities, including Las
Margaritas, have suffered a great deal, so we are glad to be able
to celebrate the opening of their center and give them a hand so
they can continue with their mission, which is so important for our
society," said Liana Marante
O'Drobinak, executive director of the MCS Foundation, who
actively participated in the activity. "For me, it is very
gratifying to see MCS employees volunteering, despite having been
affected as well, and joining with us without thinking twice about
helping Puerto Rico and bringing a
little human warmth and compassion to these communities that need
it so much."
The group of MCS employee volunteers went to the Las Margaritas
community through the BGCPR, whose clubs throughout the island
include the one located in this sector, which also serves as a
gathering center for those who live there. Boys & Girls Clubs
of Puerto Rico is one of the
organizations that will benefit from the fundraising activities
currently underway by the MCS Foundation. Among its current
objectives, the foundation aims to help those communities that have
been the most affected in Puerto
Rico by Hurricane María. Once the MCS Foundation completes
its fundraising campaign, it will donate 100 percent of the
collected funds to nonprofit institutions focused on children
and/or health, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, Caras Las Américas and the San
Juan YMCA, which will use all the donated money to provide help and
services directly to the affected communities they serve. To
contribute, go to www.greenforpuertorico.org and make your donation
through PayPal or credit card.
For her part, Olga Ramos,
president of BGCPR, was very grateful for the efforts of the MCS
employee volunteers. "The Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico greatly appreciate all the efforts
to bring hot meals to those in the communities we serve. We are
also grateful for the support in re-establishing our programs and
services as soon as possible, and continuing our mission of
developing children and youths to the fullest, said Ramos.
"Without a doubt, this experience on the streets and seeing
first-hand how one's own efforts in one day can make a difference
in the life of other people raises awareness and opens one's eyes
to the real needs of others. This motivates us to continue the MCS
Foundation's work with more dedication and care for our members and
insureds," said Marante O'Drobinak.
