ADRs End Mostly Higher; ASML, Aviva Trade Actively

International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on
Wednesday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts
edged up 0.2% to 155.53. The European index ticked up 0.4% to
146.94. The Asian index moved down 0.4% to 186.76. The Latin
American index gained 1.4% to 201.21, while the emerging-markets
index moved down 0.6% to 315.02.
ASML Holding NV was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The Dutch semiconductor-equipment maker rose 1.7% after it said
that for the fourth quarter it beat net profit consensus and net
sales rose, and that it expects continued strong sales growth in
2023 despite a challenging environment.
Aviva PLC gained 3.8% after the FTSE 100 listed insurer said
that it expects the cold weather in the U.K. during December to
cost around 50 million pounds ($62 million) and that its overall
weather experience for the quarter year is marginally above the
long-term averages, although in line for the year as a whole.
