Federal is based in Brazil and owned by the Brazilian Federal
Government. Caixa is one of the largest government-owned financial

system from ASE 12.5 to ASE 15. As part of the project, he
implemented partitioning in ASE 15 and saw a significant reduction
in administrative tasks including an 80 percent improvement in
table update statistics, a 95 percent improvement in the time it
takes to backup the database and 75 percent faster database
recovery time. Caixa also benefited from an increase in system
performance including I/O requests that are 10-30 percent faster on
ASE 15. As a result, the company has been able to successfully deal
with the more than 150 percent growth in data from when the
migration began. SPECIAL AGENT: Grigory Kagan, Database Architect,

changes in data to be proactively pushed to applications and users,
giving an enterprise-wide, real-time view of key operational data
from multiple data sources. eSpeed implemented ASE 15 with
Real-Time Events. The predicted development time was cut in half
since Sybase eliminated the need to write custom code to capture
events. Message flows are now in thousands per second eliminating
delays in trading and back office systems. Additionally, eSpeed was
able to bring legacy systems into the mix to provide a more
accurate view of business processes. SPECIAL AGENT: Paul Jackson,
