JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) today announced it is further expanding its transcon service with new nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Long Beach Airport (LGB). Flights will operate daily starting May 3, 2017. Seats are on sale now with introductory fares starting at $75 one-way (a).

“Our Fort Lauderdale and Long Beach focus cities offer such great travel experiences for our customers with their convenient terminals and great flight schedules,” said Dave Clark, vice president network planning, JetBlue. “Linking them together brings more great fares, flights and destinations to our loyal JetBlue customers in south Florida, southern California and beyond.”

In Long Beach, where JetBlue is the largest carrier, the airline will offer up to 35 daily flights to 13 destinations across the U.S. Just this year JetBlue has added nonstop service to destinations like Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and San Jose International Airport (SJC). In Fort Lauderdale, where JetBlue is also the largest carrier, Long Beach becomes the 56th nonstop destination as the airline plans to grow to 140 daily flights in the coming years.

The route not only offers a new nonstop choice between the east and west coasts, but also links the airline’s focus cities in southern California and south Florida, resulting in increased convenient connections across the JetBlue network. With the new flight, over a dozen destinations such as Colombia, Puerto Rico, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and JetBlue’s new service to multiple cities in Cuba will be an easy connection away for southern California flyers. Other east coast JetBlue cities like Washington-National and Jacksonville, Fla. are also just a quick stop away.

“The new JetBlue flight service to Fort Lauderdale is great news for travelers and great news for Long Beach,” said Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia. “The Long Beach Airport is already one of the best in the country, and getting better every day.”

"This new transcon flight to JetBlue's south Florida focus city is terrific news for users of Long Beach Airport," said Jess Romo, A.A.E., Director, Long Beach Airport. "With this new way to get to Florida, customers will also get quick connections to exciting destinations in the southeast and Caribbean, including Cuba."
