Liberty Global PLC's German subsidiary Unitymedia said it plans
job cuts to improve efficiency and free funds to invest in its
business.
Unitymedia Chief Executive Lutz Schueler said 450 to 500 jobs
would be affected by the restructuring, but the payroll would
shrink by a smaller number because the company is hiring at the
same time. The television and Internet cable operator--one of the
largest in Germany--has 2,700 staff.
Unitymedia wants to increase Internet subscriptions and business
customers and accelerate the expansion of its network, said Mr.
Schueler.
