a company jointly controlled by certain funds advised by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts

                             and by Stefano Pessina




KKR and Stefano Pessina note today's announcement by the Trustees of the Boots
Pension Scheme (the "Trustees").



As noted in the formal announcement of the proposed acquisition on 20 April, we
recognise the importance of ensuring that all of the Alliance Boots Pensions
Schemes are prudently funded and will continue to work with the trustees of each
of the schemes to reach agreement on the appropriate levels of funding.



We have had several productive discussions with the Trustees and their advisors
and while no agreement has been reached to date, we believe that we have made
substantial progress towards this goal.  We will continue to engage positively
with the Trustees over the coming weeks.  AB Acquisitions remains committed to
completing the Transaction and expects that documentation relating to the
Transaction will be sent to shareholders shortly.

announcement dated 20 April 2007.
