DataLogic International Adds MicroLan to Panther Trak(TM) -
Expanded Functionality Increases Potential Applications - IRVINE,
Calif., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DataLogic International,
Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: DLGI; Berlin, Frankfurt Stock Exchange:
779612) a technology and professional services company providing a
wide range of consulting services and telecommunications products
such as VoIP equipment and GPS vehicle tracking devices, today
announced that its Panther Trak(TM) GPS product has been expanded
to include local area network capabilities, referred to as
MicroLan. The addition of MicroLan technology permits greater data
input and output capabilities with Panther Trak(TM), allowing it to
provide more information reporting, control, and effective remote
tracking. MicroLan, also known as "One-Wire Network," is a
technology by Maxim/Dallas Semiconductor
(http://www.maxim-ic.com/). It is a self-powered interface that
allows many peripheral devices, such as temperature gauges and IO
switches, to be connected to a single network and controlled by a
master device. The network can be as long as 200 meters and up to
700 meters with a minor hardware upgrade. Using MicroLan
technology, Panther Trak(TM) now supports temperature monitoring.
Its temperature probe can report temperature readings from -55
degrees C to 125 degrees C. This configuration is ideal for
geographically tracking and monitoring the temperature of sensitive
cargos. Using various types of IO switches, a Panther Trak(TM) unit
can be configured to support many other applications such as
security, industry process monitoring, remote meter readings, and
home automation. Keith Nguyen, DataLogic's President, commented,
"By adding the MicroLan technology to Panther Trak(TM), we have
significantly expanded the capacity of our unit to support many
more applications. In addition to GPS information, we can now
monitor and control many more types of devices from a single unit.
We believe this technology, in combination with GPS tracking, has
many value propositions and should open up various new vertical
markets for us." About DataLogic International, Inc. DataLogic
