Investor site visit presentations
Versarien plc (AIM:VRS) ("Versarien" or the "Company"), the
advanced materials group, is pleased to be hosting a site visit to
its newly acquired facility at AAC Cyroma in Banbury, Oxfordshire,
for investors today.
At the event Versarien management will be discussing the results
of the recently completed graphene enhanced carbon fibre composite
project with the National Graphene Institute ("NGI") at The
University of Manchester, announced on 13 October 2016. This
project produced quantifiable data demonstrating the improvements
in the mechanical properties of carbon fibre that that addition of
graphene can achieve. These include:
-- 52% improvement in transverse sheer strength of Carbon fibre reinforced plastic
-- 32% improvement in the ultimate tensile strength of the epoxy matrix
-- 30% improvement in longitudinal modulus of carbon reinforced plastic
Additionally, the results of other studies demonstrating the
property improvements to injection moulded polymers from the
addition of graphene will be outlined. These include:
-- 21-32% improvement in modulus at 3% by weight graphene loading
-- 21% improvement in ultimate tensile strength of the polymer
matrix at 0.5% by weight graphene loading
The three presentations that will be made as part of the site
visit will be available to view on the Company's website
www.versarien.com after the event.
Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "We are very
pleased to be welcoming a number of investors to our newly acquired
facility at AAC Cyroma today and to have the opportunity to outline
quantifiable data from independent sources that show the dramatic
effects that the addition of graphene can have to the mechanical
properties of various materials. The results of this research are
enabling real world products and applications to be developed. We
are now entering the next stage of Versarien's development that
will see the commercialisation of graphene enhanced products."
