Power Plant Relies on Bowne Global Solutions to Bring its Operating
Documentation Up to European Standard NEW YORK, Jan. 11
/PRNewswire/ -- Bowne Global Solutions (BGS), the world's leading

services, announced today that it has been awarded the contract to
oversee and assist in the production of new operating and
maintenance documentation for the Maritza East III thermal power
plant in southeastern Bulgaria, which is being refurbished. The
plant is owned by the Maritza East III Power Company, a joint
venture between Entergy Corporation (a United States-based energy
company), NEK (Bulgaria's National Electric Company) and Enel of
Italy. The Maritza East III Operating Company (a joint venture
between Entergy and NEK), which is responsible for the operation
and maintenance of the plant, has awarded BGS's technical writing
group the contract based on its ability to provide operating and
maintenance documentation solutions for complex power-generating
plants. BGS's technical writing group, which is based in the United
Kingdom, has been specializing in power plant documentation since
1966. "Based on previous experience with BGS, the Operating Company
is confident that BGS will effectively help us meet our goal -- to
write operating and maintenance documentation that not only
reflects our future method of operation after refurbishment but
also satisfies industry best practices," said Marc Clemson, the
Operating Company's Project Manager. The operating and maintenance
manuals that will be produced are based on the original manuals,
which were written in Russian and Bulgarian. Interpreters who speak
these languages are working with plant personnel to write new
documentation directly in Bulgarian. BGS, in its consultative role,
visits the site regularly to ensure that the documentation reflects
the changes being made to the plant and that the documentation
meets world standards in terms of working practices and safety.

lignite-fired plant, located near Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, was built
in 1981 and comprises four 210-megawatt turbo-generating units. The
refurbishment will improve the plant's emissions, increase
performance and add approximately 15 years to the plant's life.
