JOPLIN, Mo., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SiriCOMM, Inc., (OTC:SIRC) (BULLETIN BOARD: SIRC) today announced progress on its network enhancement initiative. Over the past two month, crews have touched about 40 percent of the locations in the SiriCOMM network, primarily in the East and Midwest. An operating firmware upgrade was installed at each site visited. Additionally, Cisco Aironet 1300 Series access points were installed at various sites as required to improve wireless signal across the parking area. The firmware upgrade improves bandwidth management by categorizing and prioritizing traffic for transmission and enabling traffic shaping rules to limit the transfer speed of each customer's connection, effectively managing potential abuse of network bandwidth capacity by abusers. The two methods combined greatly improve the consistency of the customer experience. "In order to support our growing customer base without incremental cost increases, it became increasingly important for us to manage how our customers used network resources," explained Kory Dillman, vice president of network and software development. "Analyzing traffic patterns revealed that a limited number of excessive bandwidth users were occasionally impacting the service quality for a large number of other customers. With this upgrade, we now have the ability to effectively monitor and manage customer use habits." Subsequent to the firmware upgrade, the Company's Terms of Service were also modified to limit the total amount of capacity each customer may transmit within each service plan. Limiting capacity to each customer ensures that they cannot abuse network resources by using more bandwidth than they purchased. "Our focus is on quality, which in our case means a reliable and consistent service for our broad base of customers," stated Mark Grannell, the Company's president and CEO. "These upgrades are improving the customer experience as well as making our network more efficient, providing increased capacity for growth with minimal incremental cost." As the network enhancement project continues, the Company expects all sites to be running the new software in the next quarter and access point upgrades continuing throughout the calendar year.
